2018 Wrap Up
I didn't plan ahead this year, I just jumped right into my journal. My only goal was to use material I had on hand. I used an old Dylusions art journal, gouache paint, and PBP. At least that's how I started. The PBP ran out about the time the time I had set aside for this project changed. Travel & family health isssues came up so in order to continue I needed to change materials. I switched to a Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen (black) that I had used for the journaling. I also dropped the gouache. This meant I could finish all 30 days. Posting was late for the last part. I also found the prompts great at first then gradually lost interest in them. But it did make it easier to know what I was going to sketch each day. Didn't completely fill the book so I will probably finish off the few last pages so that I can put a completed journal on the shelf.
April 29 - Something metallic
[text reads as follows]
Thought of a car first but a nut & bolt are easier to draw. Yes I am getting tired of drawing prompts.
April 28 - Something bumby & lumpy
[text reads as follows]
Potatoes are usually bumby & lumpy on the outside. Hopefully my mashed potatoes aren't.
April 27 - Something dust covered
[text reads as follows]
Like who uses a book dictionary anymore. Most people would have a hard time locating one in their home.

April 24 Beauty or Health related produce
[text reads as follows]
Now that my care giving duties are over it's time to start taking care of myself. Trying to get in the habit of eating my calcium chewies everyday.
April 23 A container
[text reads as follows]
the pollen has been terrible this spring. The allergy meds have not been that successful.
April 22 something mechanical
[text reads as follows]
Since I try to eat fresh food I rarely use my hand can opener. But when you need it, you need it.
April 21 Neighbor
When you love next to a tree reserve your neighbors wither have fur or feathers. Love seeing the deer, squirrels, fox, songbirds & blackbirds, an occasional hawk.
April 20 Haven
[text reads as follows]
I have always been a shower person but in the winter a lovely hot bubble bath, glass of wine, good book is a very nice haven.

The computer really changed my life. It meant that I could make a living with my art.
April 16 Weather
[text read as follows]
Gray, Gray, Gray!I am so tired of overcast, cloudy, rainy days. Where is the sun? Oh let's not forget the wind.

April 15 Leftovers
[text reads as follows]
I call the "leftover" paint on my palette palette mud. It is always a different color but usually a gray neutral.
April 14 Snack
[text reads as follows]
Since I haven't been walking as much as I use to walk when Jake was well, I have been gaining weight. So I have decided to eat healthy, lower calorie snacks like apples or tangerines.

April 13 headphones
[text reads as follows]
The actual prompt for today was "favorite world leader" current leader ALIVE. I am so tired of politics I could spit. Nice southern ladies don't spit! So I prefer to listen to music or books on cd's, audible or movies.
April 12 Postal Stamp
[text reads as follows]
Today's prompt was influenced by the fact I am ready for spring. So a cherry blossom stamp. Now the "FOREVER" refers to the postal rate. Really would not want every day to be spring. I like the variety of 4 seasons.

April 10 Stems
[text reads as follows]
Flower stems first came to mind but I didn't want to do the obvious choice…so I chose glassware stems.
April 9 Crumbs
[text reads as follows]
Our marble kitchen counter are great for hiding crumbs. It is hard to tell when they need to be cleaned. This is good & bad.

April 7 Clothing
[text reads as follows]
This denim jacket must be close to 20 years old. It hangs on the endpost in my studio and is oddly fairly paint free.
April 6 Inextinguishable Hope
[text reads as follows]
Prayer is my most inextinguishable hope. God's answers have not always been what I had hoped for but they were all the best answers for me.

April 5 Something on my Desk
[text reads as follows]
I rarely need scotch tape so not sure why I let this tape dispenser take up valuable real estate on my desk. Think I will find a new home for this rarely used item.
April 4 Clock or Watch
[text reads as follows]
I own 4 watches & a Fitbit but often forget to put one on. So my I Phone has become my "time piece" most days.
April 3 Kitchen utensil
Truly enjoy my old fashion percolator. It gives, provides me with a hot cup of coffee [actually 12 cups] every morning. It stays hot for 3 hrs. I won't say happiness is my coffee pot but is a welcome part of my morning.

April 2 Organic
[text reads as follows]
First thing I thought of when I read today's prompt was veggies (ie. carrots) Then I looked over and saw my white orchid.
Now what do I do with my evening…watch TV, paint, read, yoga? Not sure what to do with my new freedom.
April 1 Bakery Goods
[text reads as follows]
March really set me up for life changes starting this month. With Jake gone, no more elder [doggie] care, no one nosing me to go for the morning walks. I now get 8 hrs sleep each night, no more trips to the vet every couple of days. So its great to have joined a prompt sketching group, one less thing to make a decision about. Great to get back into a sketching habit.
